DUIR is a folk black metal band created by Mirko Albanese in 2013 with the aim of proposing a folk metal influenced by the personal taste of each member. The name comes from the celtic word “oak”, a tree that was venerated for its longevity and associated with wisdom. After releasing the demo “Tribe” (2014) and the EP “Obsidio” (2018), both self-produced, the band started to play gigs all over Italy sharing the stage with Skyforger, Windrose, Furor Gallico, Ulvedharr, Bifrost, Elvenking, and many more.
The band led by Mirko, Giovanni and Thomas shifted into an atmospheric, melodic folk black metal with the first full length “T. S. N. R. I. – IMPERMANENZA”, recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic, mixed and mastered in 2021 and then released in January 2022 as a self-produced full length. The latter is characterized by wistful, instrospective melodies and references to existentialism and Arthur Schopenhauer’s works. After the release of “T. S. N. R. I. – IMPERMANENZA” the band had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the migthy GRIMA, Ultar and Bloody Tyrant, and to sign a collaboration contract with the italian booking agency Mostro Production.
In 2023 the band will perform special shows sharing the stage with Ellende, Groza, Windrose and many more.
